Jesus emphasizes giving God priority in all things:
"Seek first the kingdom of God ..."
Consider this in relation to his teaching elsewherethat
the greatest (or the first) commandment is to
love God with all one's heart, mind, soul, and strength;
following this is to as well love one's neighbor as oneself.
Christians,
confident in being loved by God,
give priority to others over themselves.
Christian ethics is founded on such proper priority
– God, others, self.
